One Step

Winner, 2016 Little Free Library Design Competition

Hosted by The Movement Creative | Summer 2016

Creating two modules, as opposed to one singular place for the books, allows for a more dynamic interaction with the Little Free Library, similar to the interactions one has with POPUP Public. Approachable from two different directions, the plexi-glass allows for one to have a visual connection with the books, but then must approach the modules from a different side to open and take a book. Recycled wood matches the aesthetic of the wooden timber seating in the playscape, while the transparency of the plexi-glass allows for the visual appearance of an open library, reachable to all ages.

Affordability: reclaimed materials + hardware at low cost
Adaptability: clear space for logo to be painted or attached
Assembly: minimal materials allow for the modules to be cut, assembled and  put on site in a reasonable amount of time
Aesthetics: reclaimed materials fit within the Playscape creating forced  interactions with the stacked modules
